Preparation	Myristil nicotinate is prepared as follows: In a nitrogen atmosphere, nicotinyl chloride is mixed with triethylamine (TEA), dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) and different alkanols such as myristiol. The obtained myristiol nicotinate was synthesized by silica gel column chromatography, and for further purification, it was converted into HCl salt using a standard method. The purity was confirmed by thin-layer chromatography and 1H-NMR.
biological activity	Myristyl nicotinate (Tetradecyl nicotinate) is an ester prodrug and lipophilic derivative Nicotinic acid. Myristyl nicotinate were developed to deliver niacin into the skin to prevent actinic keratosis and its development into skin cancer. Myristyl nicotinate showed stimulation of epidermal differentiation in light-damaged skin, increased skin NAD content and enhanced human skin barrier.
